Alex Dunbar has signed a new contract with Glasgow Warriors that keeps him at the club until May 2019.

The Scotland international penned a two-year deal, which will extend his stay in Glasgow to 10 years.

Dunbar made his debut for the Warriors against Ulster in December 2009, and since then has made 94 appearances for the 2014-15 Guinness PRO12 winners.

"Glasgow Warriors is a great club and I'm really enjoying my rugby just now, so it was an easy decision when it came around," said Dunbar.

"Over the last few years I've started to get regular game-time and hopefully we can keep improving.

"It was a great day down in Leicester, with the smiles on the boys faces and the buzz around the club and it's been great over the last couple of months, so hopefully we can continue that going forward.

"A lot of the senior boys and a lot of the internationalists are staying and obviously with Dave Rennie coming in and Jason (O'Halloran) and Jonathan (Humphreys) coming across the boys are really excited about building towards next year."

"He has worked hard to improve his game - and has come back from some untimely injuries - to become an important player for the club.

"His ability to play equally well at 12 and 13 has enabled him to strike up effective partnerships with the other centres we have in our squad.

"This is another boost for us, with a number of players having already signed up beyond this season."

Dunbar is the latest player to re-sign for the Warriors, with Stuart Hogg, Henry Pyrgos, Adam Ashe, Tim Swinson and Tommy Seymour all committing to the club, along with USA international Greg Peterson.
