Wales U20 head coach Jason Strange will join Cardiff Blues as backs and attack coach ahead of next season.

Strange guided Wales to an U20 Six Nations Grand Slam in 2016 and is the first addition to new Blues head coach John Mulvihill's coaching team for next term.

"It's been a privilege to watch the achievements of players who have come through the U20 ranks, whether they be at national squad, sevens or regional level," said Strange.

"Now seems the right time for me to take the next step, having served my apprenticeship at a semi-professional level with Ebbw Vale and with Wales U20.

"Having the opportunity to work in a day-to-day environment at Cardiff Blues will only help improve me as a coach."

Strange believes the move to Cardiff Blues is a good fit for both him and the region and says the age profile of their squad makes the role even more attractive.

"They've got a young, talented squad that hasn't reached its peak yet and I want to help develop that," he said.

"There's a huge amount of growth left in the squad to achieve great things, both as individuals and as a team.

"The long-term vision for the region under new head coach John Mulvihill is also very exciting.

"I'm looking forward to working with the players, many of whom I've worked with before, and watching them play great rugby."
