South Africa's Frans Malherbe will face no action over an alleged biting incident during Wednesday's Rugby World Cup match against the United States in London.
The citing committee have viewed the evidence from the Olympic Stadium and have decided the 24-year-old prop has no case to answer following his clash with American lock Matt Trouville.
A photograph of the incident, involving Malherbe and Trouville, appeared in a national newspaper on Thursday but World Rugby says the image is misleading.
A statement from World Rugby reads: "Independent Citing Commissioner Peter Larter is satisfied that no alleged biting incident occurred.
"This matter highlights the need to exercise caution in respect of claims based on two-dimensional images.
"Larter's determination follows a detailed review of all video footage, an absence of a team referral and proactive dismissal by the USA team of claims made via social media that a South Africa player bit a USA player during the match."
Malherbe will be available when the Springboks take on either Wales or Australia in the quarter-finals of the World Cup at Twickenham on October 17.
