New Zealand have named an unchanged 23 for Saturday's Rugby World Cup final against Australia at Twickenham.

Coach Steve Hansen was able to name the starting XV that defeated South Africa in the semi-final and has also gone with the same replacements after prop Wyatt Crockett failed to recover from injury.

Dan Carter will start at fly-half and Richie McCaw captains the defending champions from flanker in what could be a final game for two of the sport's greatest players.

Hansen said: "We came here as contenders for the World Cup, just like everyone else. In our minds we have never been defenders.

New Zealand boss Steve Hansen has praised the durability of Dan Carter...

"We knew we would have to earn the right to progress through the tournament so being in the final is very satisfying in its own right.

"The ultimate goal has always been to win it, so we are exactly where we need to be to try and achieve that.

Will Greenwood on the build-up to a World Cup final

"Both teams have arrived at the final by different pathways. We've had the luxury of building game-by-game throughout the whole tournament, whilst Australia have had to be at their very best right from day one.
