Australia's coach Michael Cheika is yet to finalise his squad for their tour of the northern hemisphere, and is keeping his options open until after Saturday's match against the Barbarians.

Cheika will name a squad of up to 34 players over the weekend for the tour of Japan and Europe, and is keen to watch the fringe players perform in this non-Test match at Sydney's Football Stadium.

Cheika said on Friday: "This weekend is going to be a big game for a lot of players, there's still a couple of spots on the tour available.

"There's probably one backline position and one forward position still available, so we're looking to see how we go this weekend with players that probably haven't had a chance to play."

First-choice full-back Israel Folau has opted out of the tour and will play his last game of the season against the Barbarians, before taking a break.

Karmichael Hunt, named at full-back against the Barbarians, is expected to replace Folau in the same position on tour.

Cheika has rested 13 of the starting 15 from the victory over the All Blacks last week.
