Sale have confirmed the signing of Scotland No 8 Josh Strauss from Glasgow Warriors on a three-year deal.
The South Africa-born back-row, 30, has made 11 appearances for the Scots but was ruled out of the Six Nations Championship after suffering a kidney injury against France.
"He has been performing well for both Glasgow and Scotland over the past five years and will compliment the squad in the ball-carrying department," Sharks' director of rugby Steve Diamond said.
"He is a leader and a very powerful athlete. The new owners Simon Orange and Ged Mason are keen to help Sale Sharks become one of the leading clubs and signings like Josh will help our cause."
Strauss helped Scotland claim victory over Ireland at Murrayfield on the opening day of the Six Nations.
"Since coming to the UK I always had it in the back of my mind that I wanted to play in the Premiership, which is a highly-rated competition by players in South Africa," said Strauss.
"I signed for Glasgow and needed to sign for a second term in order to qualify to play for the national side. I have really enjoyed my time with the Warriors but I asked my agent to look around in the Premiership for me."
Strauss has made 104 appearances for the Warriors since joining from the Lions in 2012, helping the club to the Guinness PRO12 title in 2015.
He made his international debut in the 2015 World Cup against Japan in Gloucester after qualifying for Scotland through residency.
