Wales international lock Lou Reed has signed a two-year contract to join Sale Sharks from Cardiff Blues.

The 6ft 6ins, 120kg, second row has five caps for Wales and was part of its 45-man training squad for the 2015 World Cup.

Sale director of rugby Steve Diamond said: "Lou came highly recommended by Dwayne Peel. He is a big physical guy who will be a very abrasive addition to the squad."

Reed added: "After playing for Cardiff and Scarlets, I am really looking forward to playing for Sale Sharks in the Premiership.

"I have been training all week and have been welcomed by everyone at the club."

He started his career at Celtic Warriors before joining Scarlets where he played more than 100 games. He switched to Cardiff in 2012 and represented the Blues 40 times, including 17 games last season.
