Saracens winger Chris Ashton could be on his way to French giants Toulon, according to Sky sources.
The two clubs have held talks over the former England star, but as yet no final agreement has been struck, and it is not known whether he would move this year or next.
Ashton is currently serving a 13-week ban for biting Northampton's Alex Waller, which keeps him on the sidelines until December 19.
Ashton has not played for England since 2014, although he was called into Eddie Jones' training squad for the Six Nations earlier this year.
But a 10-week ban for raking his fingers across the eyes of Ulster's Luke Marshall ended his hopes of wearing the Red Rose again.
Since then he has played no part in the England set-up, and with little prospect of a recall under Jones, the former Rugby League star may choose to accept what is likely to be a bumper pay packet at Toulon instead.
That would end his chances of playing for England as foreign-based players can only be called up in 'exceptional circumstances'. England have never called up anyone under that rule.
