We could have beem more clinical says Wasps forwards coach

Worcester forwards coach Phil Davies singled out Tom Arscott following his side's narrow win over Wasps on Saturday. The 24-year-old winger was the hero of both of the Warriors' tries, one a brilliant solo effort, as the hosts got their LV= Cup campaign off to a winning start with a 20-19 victory at Sixways. Davies however felt his side should have asserted themselves on the game more and knows that next week's clash with Bath in the same competition will be a tougher challenge. "Tom was excellent today," he said. "He was very assured at the back and his second try was something special. "We are pleased to win but we could have been more clinical. In the first half we had 66% of possession but we turned off a bit in the second half. "Every game in each competition is equally important for the club. We know we can do better and Bath will be a tough test."

Injury problems

Wasps director of rugby Dai Young said injury problems had contributed in no small part to the defeat but felt his side had missed opportunities to snatch victory later in the game. "Our selection today was forced upon us," he said. "As in the last few games we have had injury after injury and we are very grateful that some clubs loaned us players today. "We didn't have the ball in attacking areas in the first 25 minutes, they had all the possession but eventually we played with more belief and could have won the game for in the second half we scored some really nice tries." Young is hopeful that some of his absent players will be able to return in time for Wasps' now clash with Newport Gwent Dragons at home next Saturday evening. "Hopefully Joe Simpson will be back in contention and Dom Waldouck might be back from injury to play some part, he added. "We want to make Adams Park a bit of a fortress and will probably pick the best available side."
