Morgan Parra has been ruled out of France's Six Nations opener against Ireland on February 3 with a knee injury.

The 29-year-old has been instrumental for Clermont this season and his form had earned him his first international call-up for two years.

Parra was a mainstay when France won the Grand Slam in 2010 and reached the Rugby World Cup final a year later.

However, the last of his 66 international caps came in France's 62-13 loss to New Zealand in the 2015 Rugby World Cup quarter-finals.

As a result of Parra's injury, newly-appointed France head coach Jacques Brunel has called up Bordeaux-Begles' half-back Baptiste Serin who has won 16 caps.

Racing 92 full-back Brice Dulin will also miss the Ireland game after sustaining a calf injury against Leicester Tigers in the final pool round of the European Rugby Champions Cup. He has been replaced by Toulon's Hugo Bonneval.

Brunel has also confirmed that hooker Guilhem Guirado will once again captain the side in the Six Nations. Guirado has 56 caps to his name and has led the national side 18 times previously.
