Alex Cuthbert has been released from Wales' Six Nations squad after suffering a knee injury.
The winger picked up the injury in a Cardiff Blues' training session ahead of last Saturday's Guinness PRO14 match against the Cheetahs and will undergo surgery.
In a statement, the Welsh Rugby Union said: "Following subsequent scans, Alex will undergo surgery with a four-to-six week return-to-play time-frame.
"With this in mind, Alex will remain at the Blues for his medical management and will be released from the Wales national squad."
Cuthbert, who has 47 caps, has yet to feature in this season's Six Nations and last played for Wales in the autumn international against Georgia.
Wales are already without Sam Warburton, Jonathan Davies, Rhys Webb, Dan Lydiate and Rhys Priestland due to injury.
Full-back Leigh Halfpenny was a late withdrawal from the Wales team which lost to England 12-6 at the weekend because of a foot infection.
Wales next Six Nations match is against Dublin in Ireland on February 24. Their campaign concludes with home games against Italy, on March 11, and France a week later.
