Cardiff Blues pair Cory Allen and Tomos Williams have been called into the Wales squad ahead of Saturday's Test against Argentina.

Uncapped scrum-half Williams comes in as injury cover after Rhys Webb was forced off in Saturday's 32-8 defeat to Australia by an ankle problem and is a doubt for the remainder of the autumn series.

Four-time capped centre Allen has been summoned after Newport Gwent Dragons centre Tyler Morgan was released following a hamstring injury.

Wales welcome the Pumas to the Principality Stadium in the second game of their autumn programme on Saturday still licking their wounds from the hammering by the Wallabies.

"I've never seen stats so dominant in one side's favour," Wales defence coach Shaun Edwards said.

"We conceded three tries, it could have been more.

"It's incredibly difficult. There are more and more tries being scored in modern day rugby but we can defend better than we did and I'm incredibly determined.

"The tackling wasn't too bad. First and foremost we lost the advantage line."

Edwards blamed himself for Wales' defensive shortcomings as Australia ran in five tries.

It was Wales' heaviest autumn defeat since New Zealand beat them 45-10 in 2006.

"Stephen Larkham [Australia attacking coach] got the better of me on the day," Edwards said.

"I'll hold my hands up. But I'm a determined person.

"We need to muscle up on the gain line. Muscling up will give us extra line speed.

"We're famous for that but it's reliant on dominating the first-up contact and that ruck being a four-second ruck.

"I asked the tight five forwards to do more on the gain line in the second half and I think we started looking like a normal Wales defence in the second 40."

Wales expect full-back Liam Williams, centre Jonathan Davies and second row forward Jake Ball to recover from the injuries which saw them sit out the Australia defeat.

Skipper Sam Warburton could also return after getting game-time for the Cardiff Blues in the Guinness PRO12 last weekend following a neck injury, and Alun Wyn Jones is back in camp following a family bereavement.

On Argentina, Edwards added: "They play quite a loose game and have got a powerful pack, they are a good driving line-out team.

"We have to counteract that and they have got some very quick nimble backs who don't mind playing from inside their own 22. So it's a big challenge defensively.

"We're playing a top eight ranked team who compete in the Rugby Championship, I couldn't think of a better fixture to bounce back after the Australia game."
