Scotland have welcomed back six injury doubts into their squad ahead of Saturday's Six Nations clash with Wales.

Vern Cotter was handed a double injury blow last week after Scotland's 22-16 defeat to France at the Stade de France, with captain Greig Laidlaw and No 8 Josh Strauss ruled out for the rest of the tournament with ankle and kidney injuries respectively.

Flanker John Barclay, hooker Fraser Brown and openside John Hardie all also departed the match in Paris with head injuries, and had been doubts for Saturday's clash with Wales in Murrayfield.

Glasgow Warriors back-rower Ryan Wilson missed the clash in France through illness while Saracens winger Sean Maitland and Warriors centre Mark Bennett also suffered rib and head injuries at the weekend.

Scotland staff confirmed on Monday though that all six players will be available.

"Neither Mark [Bennett] nor Sean [Maitland] trained today but we hope they will be right tomorrow," said Scotland defence coach Matt Taylor, who also confirmed Barclay, Hardie, Brown and Wilson reported back for duty.

"They've all come into training today and they are being looked at by the medical staff.

In a further boost for Scotland, former Edinburgh No 8 David Denton made his return from a five-month absence due to a torn hamstring in Bath's 22-12 victory over Harlequins on Saturday.

Denton, 27, has 35 caps for Scotland but will not yet be considered for the showdown with Rob Howley's Wales.
