Ben Morgan says England have to be more clinical if they are to end their run of 11 winless internationals against South Africa on Saturday.

The Springboks are unbeaten against England in their last 11 Tests - winning 10 and drawing one - but travel to Twickenham reeling from their 29-15 rout by Ireland in Dublin.

Head coach Stuart Lancaster has faced calls to make changes to his starting XV in response to the failings in game management seen in the second half defeat to New Zealand on Saturday, although the absence of seven British and Irish Lions through injury had narrowed his playing options.

England have 11 more games before launching their home 2015 World Cup campaign against Fiji and Gloucester's Morgan is reported to be pushing to replace Billy Vunipola as the starting No 8 against South Africa in one of a number of changes being considered by Lancaster.

Morgan told Sky Sports News HQ: "Obviously we weren’t happy with how things went (against New Zealand). We needed to be a bit more clinical and a bit more ruthless in terms of taking our opportunities to score points but we are still confident.

"We created enough opportunities to go out there and beat the All Blacks but we didn’t quite take them. It’s very much the same going into South Africa. We are pretty confident with our style of play and how we are playing; we just have to be more clinical.

"South Africa will have had a bit of rev up from their game against Ireland so it is going to be quite a contest. They are going to be really disappointed with the result against Ireland. We always knew it was going to be a physical encounter but I think the intensity will have probably lifted up.

"Obviously when you are selected on the bench, there is a bit of disappointment but you have got to remember that are involved in that squad and you want to try and influence as much as you can when you come on. No matter where the coaches put me, whether it’s starting or on the bench, I just want to try and influence the game in a positive way.

"We have just got be more clinical. Test points are hard to come by in international rugby and that has got to be our difference."
