Watch Chris Ashton's first-half hat-trick for the Barbarians against England at Twickenham

In the glorious sunshine at Twickenham Stadium, Chris Ashton stamped his mark on the Barbarians' fixture against England with a 25-minute hat-trick.

Ashton, who broke the TOP14 try-scoring record in his first season playing for RC Toulon, started at full-back for the star-studded invitational outfit.

All week leading into the game, the 31-year-old had been open, and honest, about his desire to make a statement at the home of English rugby. He is currently ineligible to play for his national side due to the RFU's policy of not selecting overseas players.

Ashton's first try arrived after just three minutes as his Barbarians and club teammate Josua Tuisova popped the ball to him over the line.

The high-tempo half was made for the strike runner and his textbook support lines and acceleration secured his second and third scores.
