England Head Coach Eddie Jones has apologised for these comments he made last summer about Ireland and Wales

The Rugby Football Union (RFU) will not institute any disciplinary procedures against England head coach Eddie Jones after he apologised for remarks he made about Ireland and Wales, Sky Sports News understands.

The comments were made at a private appearance in Japan last July - where Jones described Ireland as the "scummy Irish" and Wales as a "little s*** place" - and captured on video.

The footage, which was only released on Wednesday, shows Jones speaking about leadership for Fuso, the Japanese parent company of England sponsors Mitsubishi.

Jones subsequently apologised for his comments and admitted his choice of words were inexcusable, saying he was "very sorry".

The RFU confirmed it would apologise to the Irish and Welsh unions - England play Ireland at Twickenham on Saturday in their final Six Nations match of the 2018 tournament.

In the video, Jones said: "We've played 23 Tests and have only lost one Test to the scummy Irish. I'm still dirty about that game. But we will get that back!

"We will get that back, don't worry, we have them next year at home, we will get 'em back!"

England head coach Eddie Jones has apologised for derogatory comments he made about Ireland and Wales.

Also in the video, in relation to Japan U20s losing to their Welsh counterparts 125-0 shortly after he took over as head coach of Japan's senior team in 2012, Jones said: "Wales. Who knows Wales? Are there any Welsh people here?

"So it's this little s*** place that has got three million people. Three million!" he said.

In his apology, released by the RFU, Jones said: "I apologise unreservedly for any offence caused - no excuses and I shouldn't have said what I did. I'm very sorry."

England won the Six Nations in 2016 and 2017 but last weekend's defeat to France, coupled with Ireland's bonus-point victory over Scotland, means Joe Schmidt's side secured the crown this year with a round of games still to play.
