Nathan Hughes has been named in England's 32-man training squad ahead of their Six Nations game with Scotland on February 24.

Hughes made his return from a knee injury as a second-half replacement in Wasps' 44-22 win at Harlequins on Sunday and replaces Sam Simmonds, who is sidelined with a shoulder problem.

Simmonds was substituted at half-time during Saturday's victory over Wales and has returned to his club Exeter for treatment.

Should Simmonds miss the trip to Murrayfield, Hughes could go straight into the starting line-up at No 8 as England bid to extend their eight-game winning streak against Scotland.

England will train against Georgia on Tuesday and Wednesday before holding an open training session at Twickenham on Friday.

Harlequins duo Gabriel Ibitoye and Marcus Smith have been named in the squad as apprentice players along with Sale's Sam Moore.
