Bath prop Henry Thomas has been called into England's Six Nations training camp to replace the injured Kyle Sinckler.
Harlequins tighthead Sinckler arrived in Portugal on Sunday with a possible hamstring strain and has been unable to train. He will return to his club for further assessment and treatment.
Thomas, 26, has won seven caps for England, with his last appearance coming in the 20-15 loss to New Zealand at Eden Park in 2014.
England are already without Exeter playmaker Henry Slade, who did not travel to Vilamoura after suffering a shoulder injury during the Chiefs' 28-21 defeat to Glasgow Warriors on Saturday.
Slade could miss the start of England's Six Nations title defence while Saracens No 8 Billy Vunipola has been ruled out of the entire tournament with a broken arm.
England have lost a succession of props for at least a chunk of the Six Nations and have been most badly hit at loosehead, where they are missing Joe Marler, Matt Mullan, Ellis Genge and Beno Obano.
They are now without 15 players for the start of the tournament.
England begin their campaign against Italy in Rome on February 4 before hosting Wales at Twickenham six days later.
