Harlequins and England prop Joe Marler has been summoned to face a disciplinary panel on Tuesday following his red card against Sale on Saturday.

Marler was sent off by referee Matt Carley for striking with the shoulder and making contact with Sale Sharks' TJ Ioane at a ruck, contrary to law 9.12 in the 58th minute of Harlequins' 30-29 defeat.

Marler's hearing will take place in London on Tuesday, January 9 at 6:30pm and, should the panel return a negative finding, the prop could face being sidelined for at least two of England's opening Six Nations matches, against Italy in Rome on February 4 and Wales in Twickenham on February 10.
