Dr Sherylle Calder joins Eddie Jones' England backroom staff as visual awareness coach

Eddie Jones has confirmed Dr Sherylle Calder will be part of England's backroom staff during the Six Nations.

Dr Calder is a visual awareness coach and will reprise the role she had under Sir Clive Woodward when England won the Rugby World Cup in 2003.

She was also part of the South Africa staff when the Sprinbgoks won the 2007 World Cup and worked alongside Jones during that time and again when he was in charge of Japan.

Dr Calder has more recently been working with Premier League football team Bournemouth, having also spent time with Tottenham and worked with a number of leading South African golfers including Ernie Els and Charl Schwartzel.

"I think she is really going to add an edge to the players' preparation," said Jones, who named his 34-man squad on Friday for the clash with France on February 4.

"2017 for us is about building really strong foundations for the team and making sure our fundamental skills are improving.

"Part of that is hand-eye co-ordination and our ability to handle the ball adroitly - Dr Sherylle Calder is an expert in that field.

"She has won two gold medals, 2003 with England and 2007 with South Africa, I used her extensively when I coached in Japan and had success with her then. I think she is really going to add an edge to the players' preparation."
