Jon Callard is set to leave his role as the Rugby Football Union's national performance academy manager and international performance coach.

The former Bath and England full-back will depart the position after working for the RFU for the last 12 years in various performance coaching roles, following stints at Leeds and his old club Bath.

Callard, who was capped five times by England, has also coached the England U20 side in two Six Nations campaigns, winning the 2015 title and losing out to New Zealand in the World Championship final later that year.

In addition, he guided the England Saxons to victory against the Irish Wolfhounds in Cork last January.

Callard, 50, said: "I've thoroughly enjoyed my time at the RFU. I have fond memories of the many successes achieved over the 11 years.

"I am pleased to be moving on to my next challenge with the pathway established as one of the best in the world; and so many young players representing their country at senior level after graduating from the national academy programme.

"It has been great to work with so many passionate people, and it is the perfect time to 'hand the baton' over so the good work can continue."
