Chris Robshaw will meet new England head coach Eddie Jones on Saturday night to discuss his international future.

It will be the first meeting between the pair since Jones criticised Robshaw in a newspaper column in the build-up to England's World Cup defeat to Australia, calling him "a six-and-a-half at best" in reference to his ability to play openside flanker.

Robshaw was Stuart Lancaster's captain for the duration of his time in charge but Jones is widely expected to select a new man to lead his team.

Jones was a spectator as Harlequins thrashed London Irish 38-7 in the Aviva Premiership earlier in the day.

Quins director of rugby Conor O'Shea confirmed afterwards Robshaw would be a late arrival at a Harlequins social event being held by former wing Ugo Monye after arranging to speak to Jones.

"Chris is seeing Eddie for a coffee at some stage this evening, so he probably won't be joining the crew, at least for a while," said O'Shea.

While Jones may have reservations about Robshaw's ability to be an impact player at international level, O'Shea has none and is adamant the 29-year-old still has plenty to offer England.

"Chris was outstanding against Irish, like he was against Exeter. I cannot speak more highly of him and what he has done for this club. There's a lot left in him," O'Shea said.

"Chris is in a high profile position and will get criticism, but he deserves to be lauded for what he is rather than being pilloried because there are so many people in sport who aren't proper role models.

"Chris is a proper role model and a great rugby player. Hopefully he showed that to Eddie out there."

Quins' emphatic win over the Exiles was the first match Jones has attended since replacing Lancaster after his arrival in England was delayed due to visa problems.

The 55-year-old Australian watched the game alongside Rugby Football Union chief executive Ian Ritchie.

O'Shea revealed he met up with Jones prior to the game to discuss Quins' entire English contingent, with the likes of Mike Brown, Joe Marler and Danny Care discussed in addition to Robshaw.

"We met up at the Marriott across the way before the game to do something different. Eddie happened to be there and we had a good chat," O'Shea said.

"It was good for him to be here because we're still the No 1 club when it comes to bringing English players through."

Meanwhile, O'Shea also revealed that Wales centre Jamie Roberts will make Harlequins debut against Calvisano at Twickenham Stoop on December 19.

The 29-year-old British and Irish Lions back has moved to the Twickenham Stoop after two years in Paris with Top 14 giants Racing Metro.
