Wales are waiting for news on a trio of injured players after Saturday night's stirring World Cup victory over England at Twickenham.

Having trailed 19-9 at one point, Wales recovered to claim a dramatic 28-25 win in the crucial Pool A encounter.

However, the triumph came at a cost because centre Scott Williams (knee), wing Hallam Amos (shoulder) and full-back Liam Williams (concussion) all had to be taken off during a brutal second half.

The Wales squad had already been severely weakened by injuries and they are likely to have make further changes for Thursday's match against Fiji.

Assistant coach Shaun Edwards said on Sunday: "We have obviously got some injuries once again.

"The medical staff are assessing them throughout the day with scans etc, and I think we will have more of an idea of where we are tomorrow, really.

"I think the resilience shown by these players is that, if we have another player or two out of the World Cup, somebody else will just step up and try to perform the way we did last night."

Wales lost full-back and key goal-kicker Leigh Halfpenny (knee), scrum-half Rhys Webb (foot) and centre Jonathan Davies (knee) before the tournament even started.

And another centre, Cory Allen, was ruled out of the event after picking up a hamstring injury during the second half of the 54-9 win over Uruguay last weekend, having scored a hat-trick in the first half.

Wales may well have to summon reinforcements from outside their squad, which could mean a call-up for the experienced and versatile Gloucester back James Hook.

"There is definite potential that we could lose more," said Edwards. "We just have to show the resilience we have shown so far in the competition, dust ourselves off and get on with it."

The Scott Williams and Amos injuries are particularly worrying the Wales camp, with Edwards adding: "Yes, they are definitely the ones that are the biggest concern."

Wales are also considering their position following a second-half incident when England flanker Tom Wood's swinging boot made contact with Liam Williams' head, forcing him to be taken off.

Wood has subsequently apologised to Williams on Twitter, but the incident could attract the attention of the match citing commissioner.

"There was definitely contact between part of Tom Wood's body and Liam's head," said Edwards.

"It is something we are going to look at. I think we will make a comment on that later on.

"It is clearly obvious there was some contact with the head. We did lose one of our best players. We will just look at that later."
