A penalty try in the 74th minute gave the Chiefs a 21-19 win over the Blues in Auckland on Saturday.

The Blues were reduced to 14 men in the 67th minute after the sin-binning of lock Josh Goodhue and the Chiefs then forced a series of scrums close to the Blues' line, which ended with a crucial penalty try.

A game of two halves in Canberra as the Brumbies come from behind to beat the Reds.

The ACT Brumbies got their season back on track with a 45-21 win over the Queensland Reds. The Brumbies notched their third win from six outings this year by running in the last six tries of the match to secure a bonus point.

The Reds, who beat the Brumbies in week three, dominated the game until Folau Fainga'a scored the home side's opening try after a driving maul against the run of play in the 27th minute.

Chance Peni, Rory Arnold, Naisarani, Sam Carter and David Pocock added further tries for the Brumbies in the second half as Australia's only finalists in 2017 took control.

A late Ngani Laumape try seals the deal for Hurricanes against the Sharks.

In the first of this week's games, the Hurricanes needed a converted try from centre Ngani Laumape five minutes into dead time to pip South Africa's Sharks in a Super Rugby thriller at McLean Park, Napier on Friday.

The New Zealand conference leaders were trailing by nine points with two minutes remaining but Ihaia West slotted a penalty before the Hurricanes pack built a platform for Laumape to romp across the line for his second try of the night.

Fly-half West, promoted to start after Beauden Barrett failed a late fitness test, still needed to add the conversion to give the 2016 champions their fifth straight win and he nervelessly steered the ball between the posts to the delight of the crowd.

The Durban-based Sharks, picking up where they left off in their 63-40 win over the Blues in Auckland last week, scored four tries in a brilliant display of aggressive forward play and powerful running from the back-line but it proved not enough in the end.

Lions 52-31 Stormers

Lions' wing Madosh Tambwe scored a hat-trick inside the first 13 minutes in a 52-31 win over the Stormers in Super Rugby and mark a return to form for last year's runners-up.

Tambwe finished with four tries in a stunning individual contribution of what was an impressive team showing.
