Graham Rowntree has told England to expect the unexpected from "canny" Australia at Twickenham this weekend.

The Wallabies come to London on the back of successive defeats, in France and Ireland, while England are desperate to put one over on a major southern-hemisphere side ahead of next year's World Cup.

Australia's pack has come in for recent criticism, and as forwards coach Rowntree is the right man to take advantage of any weakness in that area on Saturday.

Michael Cheika is a wise, smart, coach and I'm sure there will be a few tricks up their sleeves, as there always are against Australia.

But Stuart Lancaster's assistant has warned his players to be on guard for "sneaks", saying: "I don't trust Australia, they're a canny team. Always have been. They're one of the most difficult teams to analyse in any week, but particularly in the last game of this series because they've lost their last two matches.

"I have so much respect for their coach Michael Cheika. He's a wise, smart, coach and I'm sure there will be a few tricks up their sleeves, as there always are against Australia.

Struggle

"I don't trust the notion that they'll potentially struggle in the set piece. Any time that has been said about them, they've proved us wrong. They're clever tactically. They set you up for things and then do something completely different."

And the key to victory, according to Rowntree, is disrupting the kind of running rugby which is a trademark of Cheika's teams.

He told Sky Sports News HQ: "It's all about ball speed these days, and they look to keep the ball on the field for a long time. It's up to us to stop them, and fortunately we've got one of the best coaches in the world at doing that in Andy Farrell.

"You look at the way they play and the way they're able to move the ball from their own third... and their defence - their line speed is going to be handful for us."
