The Stormers and Chiefs played out a thriller in Cape Town as Round 7 of Super Rugby delivered tries galore.
Before SANZAAR confirmed the structure that Super Rugby will take from next season onwards Round 7 in the current format delivered some outstanding rugby.
Next year's competition will feature five New Zealand teams in their own conference, with four from Australia in a conference with Japan's Sunwolves, and four from South Africa alongside the Jaguares from Argentina.
The decision over which teams will be excluded from the competition will be made by the respective South Africa and Australia rugby unions.
The game of the weekend - which might even turn out to be one of the games of the season - was at Newlands between the Stormers and the Chiefs.
It housed a full length-of-the-field work of art from the Chiefs and one of the most impressive offloads that you'll see from the Stormers winger Dilly Leyds.
The hosts held a six-point lead at the break thanks to tries from Sikhumbuzo Notshe, Siya Kolisi and Robert du Preez and extended that out into double figures before James Lowe pinched one back for the visitors.
It was the Chiefs first loss of the new Super Rugby season while the Stormers remain one of only two unbeaten teams in the competition alongside the Crusaders.
Round 7 started at the Westpac Stadium where the Hurricanes' strong first forty helped to push them to a 38-28 victory over the Waratahs.
The two Barrett's - Beuaden and Jordie - were instrumental in delivering the result. The latter finished with a personal tally of 13 points sonnthe only black mark on the latter's report card was two yellow cards that saw him leave the field with one minute to go.
In Dunedin, Sonny Bill Williams' return to XVs wasn't a victorious one as the Blues lost 26-20 to the Highlanders.
The 31-year-old made one impressive break and a trademark offload during his first 25 minutes of XVs rugby since the Rugby World Cup Final on 31 October 2015.
The Blues in fact led 20-13 at the break before the hosts pushed back. It was the Highlanders third successive win as they head into a bye weekend in Round 8.
In Tokyo the Sunwolves recorded their first ever victory over the Bulls at the Prince Chichibu Memorial Stadium.
Both teams had two tries on the board before Yu Tamura held his nerve to kick the match-winning penalty.
Francois Brummer had the opportunity to snatch the game away with four minutes remaining but his penalty missed the and the Sunwolves prevailed.
Elsewhere on Saturday, the Brumbies notched up 33 unanswered points in the second half to record their 43-10 win over the Reds.
After being held 10-10 at half-time, the hosts started their second-half scoring on 42 minutes and didn't look back.
In the last Saturday match, the Sharks pipped the Jaguares 18-13 in a error-strew match in Durban.
The only game on Sunday saw a 12-try offering in Perth where the Western Force gained their second win of the new season with a 46-41 victory over the Southern Kings.
The Force were 25-38 down with 15 minutes to play but a try from Alex Newsome followed by a penalty try and a score from a rolling maul put the game to bed despite Pieter-Steyn de Wet's final penalty for the Kings.
