Dan Carter was over the moon after Racing 92 narrowly beat Toulon in the Champions Cup quarter-final.

Dan Carter missed Racing 92 training as their coaches have one an eye fixed on their Champions Cup semi-final against Leicester on April 24.

The 34-year-old, capped 112 times for the All Blacks and Test rugby's world record points scorer, injured his right knee in a tackle during their 19-16 Champions Cup quarter-final victory over RC Toulon on Sunday.

Carter remained on the field until the final whistle but handed over kicking duties to half-back partner Maxime Machenaud, including the match-winning penalty.

"They are the moments you love to take in a game and to see Maxime kick that penalty was very pleasing," Carter said. "He is an 85-89 per cent goal-kicker and I just left him to it

"I have a little bit of a medial ligament injury and I just had to run it off. I wasn't 100 per cent and while it isn't a problem, I'll just have to manage my rehab."

Carter wasn't the only player to sit out of Racing 92's training session on Wednesday.

He was joined on the sidelines by centres Alexandre Dumoulin, Henry Chavancy and Casey Laulala, utility back Johan Goosen and prop Ben Tameifuna.

With captain Dimitri Szarzewski ruled out of their Champions Cup semi-final due to a knee injury, it is highly likely that their star fly-half will be rested for this weekend's Top 14 match at Toulouse.
