Springbok skipper Adriaan Strauss feels the force

South Africa’s opening Rugby Championship match was a tense encounter but there was one more light-hearted moment at the Mbombela Stadium.

Shortly after half-time, with just three points separating the two sides, the tension was building as both teams endeavoured to find an edge.

After Argentina pressed forwards with real intent and purpose, Elton Jantjies looked to deliver a deep clearance kick and it was a case of wrong place, wrong time for his skipper!

Adriaan Strauss certainly was not expecting the ball that came charging his way and he may have had a quiet word with his fly-half after full time.

Prior to that the Springboks had work to do as they needed to claw back a 10-point deficit with 13 minutes to go.

Strauss, unperturbed by the earlier ball to the face, led his team back into contention before No 8 Warren Whitley scored the decisive final try that secured an opening victory in the 2016 Rugby Championship.
