Fly-half Adrian Jarvis booted 22 points to inspire Bristol to an impressive 39-11 win over Toulon at the Memorial Stadium.
Richard Hill's men quickly erased memories of their 33-15 defeat to Montpellier in the opening European Challenge Cup fixture as they romped to victory in front of their home supporters.
Full-back Vungakoto Lilo opened the scoring on eight minutes for the hosts as he breached the visitors' defence for the first time before Jarvis added the extras.
To Toulon's credit they bounced back well and Orene Ai'i hit back five minutes later with a score of his own.
Bristol toiled for the remainder of the first period but were thankful for the accuracy of Jarvis who landed four penalties to give the hosts a 19-11 lead at the break.
Jarvis continued his match-winning performance by landing a further two penalties in the second half as any French hopes of victory faded quickly.
Toulon ran out of steam in the second period and tries from Daniel Ward-Smith and Joe El-Abd in the final minutes extended the margin of victory.
