Bath failed to get out of first gear as they struggled to a 28-0 victory over Overmach Parma.
The Recreation Ground club had been expected to rack up a comfortable win against the Italian minnows, however home side never got going.
A scratchy first-half display saw Parma frustrate their hosts, that was until prop Fabio Staibano was sin-binned ad Bath took full advantage with a try through Steve Borthwick deep into injury time.
Bath failed to really impress after the break, however they did just enough to claim a bonus point.
Centre Alex Crockett crossed on the hour, before a moment of magic six minutes later from World Cup-winner Butch James set Olly Barkley up to score.
With five minutes left, Bath complete the win when replacement Jonny Faamatuainu went over.
Barley added three conversions, while James added one.
