Struggling Salford enjoyed a Good Friday, recording only their second win of the season against the Warrington Wolves.
Chris Hicks had the chance to earn a point for the visitors after Ben Westwood's try at the death, but the conversion attempt sailed wide and the Reds had a valuable 18-16 victory.
Tony Smith's Wolves began the stronger with Adrian Morley coming up just short of the line on his first return to his home town club since leaving Leeds eight years ago.
And the Warrington pressure paid off when Paul Johnson ghosted in from dummy-half for his fourth try in four matches. Hicks booted the touchline conversion and the visitors had an early 6-0 lead.
They could not sustain the advantage, though, as Ben Harrison's blunder allowed Richie Myler to race over straight from a scrum to level the scores at six apiece.
Myler then followed up his own kick four minutes later, after Hicks failed to clear the danger, to run in his second try of the game and John Wilshere's kick fired the Reds into a 12-6 lead at the break.
A shrewd kick from Bridge after the restart created the chance for Johnson to notch his second converted try in the corner on 49 minutes.
Johnson's ingenuity almost led to another try for Simon Grix soon after following the returning Michael Monaghan's kick.
But after Stefan Ratchford and Monaghan had exchanged failed drop-kick attempts, the outstanding Luke Adamson went over for Salford with Wilshere adding the decisive goal.
Salford must have thought the two points were safe at that stage, but then came Westwood's even later effort and Hicks' dramatic miss.
The result means the Reds are now level with their opponents on four points from eight games in the Super League standings.
