Wakefield banished memories of last week's home defeat to Castleford with a 30-24 victory over Salford at the Willows on Friday night.
The Wildcats ran in five tries, courtesy of Oliver Wilkes, Sean Gleeson, Michael Korkidas, Scott Grix and Dale Ferguson, while Danny Brough added five goals with the boot.
Salford, who were also looking to bounce back from defeat in their previous outings, launched a rally with two-try efforts from Dean McGilvray and Phil Leuluai
But the visitors held them off with some ease to take to take all the points back to West Yorkshire.
Wilkes opened the scoring in the eighth minute, showing a good turn of pace to touch down after latching onto a grubber from winger Gleeson.
Their second came just two minutes later when Ferguson burst through a gap in the Salford defence before neatly offloading for Gleeson to cross.
Brough's second kick on target took the visitors to 12-0
Cutting edge
It was not until the 32nd minute before Salford got themselves onto the scoreboard, courtesy of winger McGilvray who forced his way over to touch down
Wilshere hit a difficult conversion from the right touchline and then cut the gap to four points with a penalty two minutes before half time.
But Wakefleld responded almost immediately, sweeping downfield for Korkidas to barge over and score against his former club.
Winger Grix found his way over in the corner in the 44th minute for the Wildcats but Brough sent a difficult touchline conversion attempt wide.
Wakefield extended their lead to 20 points five minutes later when Ferguson forced his way over and this time Brough was on target to add the extras.
McGilvray gave the hosts hope in the 54th minute when he stretched for the line but Brough struck again with a penalty to leave the scores at 30-12.
Replacement Leuluai crossed twice in the latter stages, both tries converted by Wilshire, but it was too little too late for Salford, who lacked a cutting edge throughout the match.
