Hull KR have been handed a boost following their relegation from Super League after stand-off Maurice Blair committed his future to the club.

The Australian, who can also play second row, has followed hooker Shaun Lunt in negotiating a new contract with the Robins for their Championship campaign.

Blair, whose original deal was due to run out next year, has also agreed a 12-month extension which will keep him at the Lightstream Stadium until the end of 2018.

And Hull KR's head of rugby Jamie Peacock is delighted the 32-year-old former Penrith, Melbourne and Gold Coast players has opted to stay put.

Peacock said: "Bobby is a man of real loyalty and integrity and he was on board straight away when we opened discussions about next season.

"To retain our reigning player of the year is a real statement of intent ahead of 2017 and for Bobby to agree to a longer-term contract with the club than he initially had is tremendous commitment from him also."
