Huddersfield have made former St Helens forward Paul Clough their first signing for 2017.

The 29-year-old prop, who has spent the last two seasons with Championship club Bradford, has joined the Giants on a two-year deal.

Huddersfield managing director Richard Thewlis said: "Cloughy is a top-rate professional and highly respected in the game.

"He brings real genuine big game experience to the squad and in speaking to him it was clear he wants to get himself back into the key games where he spent most of his career before moving to the Bulls."

Clough made 166 Super League appearances for home-town club St Helens, including the 2008 Grand Final, and was a member of their Challenge Cup-winning team that year.

"I have missed the Super League competition, but I made a promise to the Bulls when signing for them that I would continue with them even when relegated and do my utmost to get them back into Super League," Clough said.
