Canberra Raiders have signed utility back Jordan Turner from Super League giants St Helens on a two-year contract from 2017.

The 27-year-old made 107 appearances for Saints and was part of the team's 2014 Grand Final triumph.

Turner, who has also played for Salford and Hull, will link up with former St Helens forward Sia Soliola as well as England internationals Josh Hodgson and Elliott Whitehead at Canberra.

"It's been a long-standing dream of mine to play in the NRL," said Turner.

"When Sia was at St Helens, we got along really well. I spoke to him about Canberra and the team. He was very helpful in making my decision.

"I've been watching the Raiders closely this year because of the move. I know it's going to be quite tough for me to break into the team. The centres are pushing for Origin, the back row is great and the halves are going really well.

"I can pretty much play anywhere. I'm just going to train hard and make the most of my chance when I get to Canberra."

Turner has so far scored 200 points for St Helens since joining them from Hull in 2012 and was at loose forward when they beat Wigan at Old Trafford two years ago.

Saints chief executive Mike Rush said: "We'd like to thank Jordan for his commitment and effort in the red vee since he joined the Saints.

"His professionalism is second to none and we're sure he will want to finish his Saints career on a high this year."

Canberra recruitment and high performance manager Peter Mulholland said: "We're hoping Jordan can continue the Raiders' successful recruitment from England and can join the likes of Sia, Josh Hodgson and Elliott Whitehead in making the transition to the NRL."
