Castleford Tigers forward Matt Cook has signed a 12-month contract extension which will keep him at the Super League club until the end of 2020.

The 32-year-old former Bradford, Hull KR and London Broncos prop is in his second spell with the Tigers, having previously spent a brief loan period at the club in 2008.

"I'm delighted that Matt Cook has agreed to extend his contract," said Castleford head coach Daryl Powell.

"He has played some outstanding rugby for us over the last few years and his form so far this season tells us he's playing some of the best rugby of his career.

"I'm really looking forward to continuing to work with him this and next season."

Cook's career has seen him play over 250 matches after he made his debut for the Bulls back in 2003. He's been an influential part of Powell's tenure and has made 98 appearances since rejoining Castleford.

"Castleford is a great club that I have been part of for almost five years now," said Cook.

"I have made some great friends here and, under the boss, have without doubt played my best rugby.

"I am still itching for more success and silverware and I believe being a Castleford player gives me the best opportunity to achieve that."

Next up for the Tigers is the visit of Warrington Wolves on May 3, live on Sky Sports Arena, and they'll be looking to bounce back after a low-scoring 6-4 loss to Wigan at the DW Stadium.
