VENTUROUS (NAP) won this nice prize a year ago and despite winning twice subsequently is on a 2lb lower mark. He looked right back to form in a heritage handicap at Ascot a fortnight ago and can complete the race double. Gale Force Maya looks a major threat after winning here last month then running an excellent race in a Group 3 on a return visit. Silver Samurai couldn't get to grips in the Wokingham after completing a double and the handicapper may have hold of him and though Mondammej has been in good form without winning he was behind the selection in this last year. Lucky Man's three victories have been on the all-weather but Hyperfocus is in tremendous form and it will be a surprise if he's not in contention. Ghathanfar's hat-trick bid was foiled over the minimum at Pontefract though he's better over this trip.
