Two 25/1 chances have won this in four years and only one favourite in ten. David O'Meara runs an incredible eight in this and sorting them out is a contest in itself. Danny Tudhope presumably had the pick and has opted for easy course and distance winner He's No Saint though a massive 11lb rise blunts optimism. Birdman is another for the yard and Philip Makin has ridden him to victory so he could turn out to be the stable number one after he completed a double by scoring here then finishing third in a Pontefract Listed race. BRONZE ANGEL gets a speculative vote at a fair price as though he's struggled to cope with a big weight rise after his victory in the Balmoral Handicap at Ascot, the richest mile handicap in Europe, he's gradually dropped down to the same mark and William Buick takes the ride for the first time since landing the 2012 Cambridgeshire on him. Godolphin's Musaddas gets a first-time visor after finishing runner-up to Birdman here and three-year-olds have a good record so the very progressive Western Reserve has a chance near the bottom of the weights. Mange All is 11lb higher than last year's victory at Ascot but made a very encouraging reappearance at Doncaster though that was in the Lincoln and he hasn't run since.
