A big field for this opener which can be taken by the likely favourite Spectrometer, with Navado, Conquering Love and Solo Flight others to consider. Mark Johnston's charge comes into the race on the back of a five length win at Hamilton last time out, when he made all. Despite that comfortable margin of victory, the tough and genuine gelding remains on the same mark for this valuable prize and provided he can get up with the pace from a wide draw, he can repel allcomers and score. Windsor winner Navado steps up in trip to a mile and a half for the first time here, after being campaigned largely over 10 furlongs. However, being by Rainbow Quest he should have every chance of getting home here and with more scope over this trip he has to be feared under Kieren Fallon. Conquering Love is a progressive sort, who has risen over a stone this season, and another win is not beyond the realms of possibility. However, he does seem to have a liking for very quick ground and he is more likely to have it good here, so with that and his extra weight we will just overlook him here. Of the remainder there could be some each way value in Solo Flight. Barry Hills' charge has not often tried this trip, and but did win over it at Newmarket last year. His course record reads 0 from 4 runs on the Knavesmire, but he will be a price, his yard is in form and he is very well handicapped on some of his form. While he might run into a place, the win money must be on Spectrometer.
