It's hard to get away from Peter Bowen's in-form dual purpose performer BIG TIME BILLY who has racked up six successive victories under both codes in recent months. There was no sign that his improvement was coming to a halt with a demolition job on his rivals at Newcastle last time and Silvestre de Sousa is a cracking booking. He's worth sticking with until beaten in his current mood from the foot of the weights. A good run from Montaser earlier on the card would augur well for the claims of Itlaaq, a regular contender in competitive staying handicaps at this venue. Blue Bajan has been far from disgraced on his last two outings in the Ascot Stakes and the Northumberland Plate suggesting that the fires are still burning pretty brightly. He has to concede weight all round but this is a more straightforward assignment for the likable veteran and he makes the shortlist.
