Ancient Cross won the Ayr Silver Cup at 33/1 last month with An Saighdiur not beaten far in third but will need further improvement to follow-up. Louis The Pious finished runner-up in this last year and occupied the same position in the Ayr Gold Cup on his latest start with several of these behind including BACCARAT. But Richard Fahey's sprinter may well reverse running here if the ground remains fast as he beat Spinatrix in the Great St Wilfrid at Ripon in August. The latter has since found Doc Hay too good back at Ripon, as did Seeking Magic, while the veteran Borderlescott won this way back in 2005 but has plenty to find with the selection. Pastoral Player is back handicapping having slipped down the weights but never figured over 7f at Ascot last time and course and distance winner Hallelujah makes more appeal.
