    In depth

    Verdict

Sociologist found his form at Southwell then defied a 3lb rise when making all for a very easy victory on soft ground at Thirsk on Saturday. He has a 6lb penalty to overcome but, if the ground turns soft, he would have to be respected. Mukhayyam only had two to beat at Musselburgh but has won here from a much higher mark in the past and has to be on the shortlist. Hint Of Stars only showed moderate form in Ireland but has completed a hat-trick of all-weather victories for new connections, though he's effectively 12lb higher here as Ryan Moore takes over from a 7lb claimer. LYDFORD, who wasn't beaten far by the latter at Kempton in February, will be 10lb better off and should turn the tables and make a bold bid. Pearl Warrior, a four-times a winner for Johnny Murtagh, made a promising start for Iain Jardine at Ayr while Mark Of Gold ended his first campaign with double on soft ground. The latter is just 2lb higher and his stable is in fine form. Propriety joined David O'Meara from the Stoute camp and made a fine start at Beverley before an impressive victory at Musselburgh, though she's up 11lb.
