Verdict

Calcutta has been in sparkling form this year and this former tricky character, seems to have turned over a new leaf. He is effective under these conditions and looks sure to run his race, but he has no easy task giving lumps of weight away. Yet to win beyond six-furlongs, Palanzo shaped as though he would be worth a try at this trip when a staying on third at Newmarket, but he has no easy task in this company, while Nashaab, a never nearer sixth in the Cambridgeshire, has it all to do with Calcutta on their running at Newbury. Londoner shaped a bit better last time behind Inchdura over seven-furlongs at Goodwood and this could prove to be his optimum trip, while Ho Leng looks to have too much to do from out of the handicap. The vote goes to the only three-year-old in the field Passing Glance, who impressed with his attitude at Newmarket. He is a confirmed front-runner and could well have a soft lead in front, in which case, he could prove difficult to peg back.
