FRANCO GRASSO (NAP) only got home by a neck here recently but gave the impression that he is still rather immature to an extent as a four-year-old. He was gelded last year and could well deliver considerable improvement this term. Callum Hutchinson retains the ride on the gelding. Henry The Fifth is 4lb out of the weights but still receives a decent chunk of weight all round and his latest effort was much better. Alpha King is another lightly-raced four-year-old and has presumably had his problems. He may struggle to concede the weight to the selection. Harmonious has not shown any strong form for over a year and is best watched unless the market disagrees.
Alpha King 5-1 (8-11) Close up in rear, pushed along 4f out, ridden and carried head high 3f out, kept on same pace final furlong, 4th of 5, 6 3/4l behind Red Flyer (9-2) at Newmarket 1m 4f hcp (4) gd in May.
Franco Grasso 11-8fav (10-2) Held up towards rear, effort and headway over 2f out, ridden 1f out, stayed on well to lead near line, won at Yarmouth 1m 3f hcp (6) gf in May beating Central City (9-7) by nk, 6 ran.
Harmonious 14-1 (9-5) Slowly into stride, always behind, weakened over 2f out, last of 4, 12 1/4l behind Autonomy (9-2) at Wolverhampton 1m 6f hcp (5) pol in May.
Henry The Fifth (IRE) 15-2 (9-1) Mid-division, asked for effort over 2f out, kept on final furlong, no match for winner, 2nd of 8, 3 1/4l behind Tibbie Dunbar (9-7) at Lingfield 1m 6f hcp (6) gd in May.
