        Verdict

        Soft ground may have been to blame for Sir Min’s poor run at Goodwood earlier this month. Rogue Star has to go on the shortlist as he hasn’t been beaten far off this mark in both starts on Turf but Bunker Bay, Islay Of Anglesey and CUBAN BEAT are all having their first run in a handicap. The latter gets the nod on his latest second at Thirsk, though Roger Varian’s gelding has been progressive on the all-weather and looks a big danger.
