Verdict

ESAAR was a $500,000 purchase and was last seen when sixth at Newmarket in April but can be expected to have improved in the intervening period whilst Wear 'Em Out Wilf started slowly on debut but finished very well and showed some promise and Barq for the Godolphin yard could be a main player. A chance is taken with Barry Hills' option in this contest with his son Richard taking the ride. There is plenty of pace in the pedigree to suggest he can perform against this opposition and despite not performing quite as well as desired in his first three runs he can win here. Barq will benefit for a debut run on the all-weather at Wolverhampton last year and with Saeed Bin Suroor having a 29% record with three-year-olds here he has to remain in consideration. A market check may point the way regarding the chances of Wear 'Em Out Wilf but the winner of that contest has since only managed a sixth out of seven and this deflates that form somewhat. In a wide open maiden we go for Esaar.
