Asawer is taken land this Listed contest, with Coqueteria, Squaw Dance and Favourita just three more in with claims. Asawer finished a close second to Polar Jem in a Listed contest at Newmarket in July, and funnily enough it was the latter that won today's contest 12 months ago. Sir Michael Stoute's filly was very disappointing in a Group 3 at Goodwood at the end of July, finishing a distant last of eight. She clearly hated the soft ground that day but put up a much better performance when fourth to Kastoria in the Galtres Stakes at York last month, and although never looking likely to win, that improved effort suggests that she is now ready to make a bold bid over today's trip of 10 furlongs, the distance of her sole success to date at Salisbury in May. Coqueteria has been campaigned at this level without success consistently, but this trip may bring out the best in her as well. Squaw Dance returns to the scene of her shock defeat in July but do not bank on her making amends as the ground and trip are against her, but Favourita could prove troublesome on this drop down from Group company. A close third in the Nell Gwynn in April, she definitely has the ability to earn some decent black type, but on this occasion she and the rest may have to give best to Asawer.
