Verdict

Comical had the benefit of experience when beating CROQUEMBOUCHE over 7f here in July. Mark Johnston's colt has been well beaten in both starts since but Sir Michael Stoute's charge won at Beverley next time before finishing a decent third at Ascot off a higher mark. The latter will relish the step up to a mile and looks the one to beat today, though plenty of these have winning form in decent company. Shamaal Nibras and Clare Island Boy may be a fraction high in the weights, but there are possibilities about Warwick winner Pickled Pelican and Mizbah is only a pound higher than when a fair third over this trip at Newmarket. Ex Oriente wears blinkers for the first time and is the choice of William Buick ahead of stablemate Tudor Empire so may prove the pick of the remainder.
