A good quality maiden by the track's standards and without reference to the market, OCEAN WAR is the call with Ahlaain and Whaileyy worthy of inclusion upon any shortlist. Mahmood Al Zarooni has made a great start to his training career in Britain and his juveniles have proved to be relatively consistent with a number of winners and placed efforts among them. Although he will probably come into his own over a mile, crucially for today at least, there is enough evidence in the dam side of Ocean War's pedigree to suggest that there will be a capability over a slightly shorter trip. Ahlaain has the edge of racecourse experience. His run at Newmarket suggested that the form of his debut at Sandown was all wrong. Whaileyy holds no fancy entries at this stage of his career but the son of Holy Roman Emperor, while weak in the market on debut, shaped as if he was already in need of much further than the six furlongs he had been campaigned upon. Regal Kiss is tried here rather than aimed at other entries at more high profile tracks. Michael Bell is not necessarily noted for first time out juveniles but Screenprint has a very likeable pedigree which includes the high class filly, Crimplene. Proper Charlie has an interesting pedigree and is noted in the market. A race for the video but for the first prize, we stick with Ocean War.
