This course suits Panshir and he gets the nod over Balerno, Marmooq and Million Percent. The last named seems to have been a round forever and has a habit of popping up in races of this nature. However, he has also run a few stinkers during his time and there is a suspicion that he is better on the artificial tracks these days. Marmooq had his confidence boosted by winning a claimer at Lingfield 17 days ago. This is tougher but he has won off an 11lb higher mark in the past, so is no forlorn hope. Balerno has a bit to find with the selection on last season's course form and appears to face an uphill task. Still, Ian Mongan has been getting a good tune out of him lately and it would be no surprise to see him go close again. Nevertheless, there are plenty of positive signs for Panshir, as he returns to racing at one of his favourite courses. His trainer, Christine Dunnett, knows how to get these old characters ready and a big run is anticipated.
